Birthday Boy Turns 10

Happy Birthday Cameron!

On Friday, my family hit a milestone. Our first born,  Cameron James turned 10.  He was beyond excited to celebrate this birthday.  There is such pride in turning two digits. 

Tim surprised his pal, (a nickname the boys call each other) by taking the day off.  We spent the morning unwrapping the gifts and just chilling. 

I love the moment this picture captures.  When opening the package from Tenerife, Spain (Thanks Ken and Becky) he was thrilled to see more InviZimals trading cards.  He pulled one pack out, "ooo, InviZimal cards!", pulled the second pack out, "More InviZimals!"  Then he pulled the mega pack out, "OOOOOOOOO even MORE!"

Thank you to Aunt Rachel for the money.  He is storing it away like a little chipmunk.
Thank you Aunt Anne for Chima Lego set, which he immediately set to work on.  He was also glad to see some candy that he could actually eat.  Usually his expanders prevent him from having any.
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Yoder for the DS game (He spent the rest of the day lost in the world of plants and zombies) He was thrilled to see a Minion shirt and a tin of Pokémon cards.

Then we spent the afternoon at the pool.  IPS had their first day of school on Cameron's big day.  The pool was all ours.  Which normally they would LOVE.  But they were spoiled this summer having their friends, The Saxon's, swim with them.  They seemed so lost in the pool without playmates.

So back home we went after only a few hours.  It was then time to dig into the birthday cake and ice cream.  He requested a lemon flavored cake with white frosting.

  As per tradition, the birthday child gets to pick the restaurant out for dinner.  Now Indianapolis has many, many, many restaurants. (both local and national chains)  So I was shocked to hear that he wanted to go to Taco Bell just down the road.  Seriously!?    He would not be swayed, so Taco Bell was the special dinner of 2013

I love you Cameron!  I'm glad you're my son. Thank you for all the you have taught me.  Everyday I am more blessed by your sweet spirit.
